Which southern state has the best community mental health?My older brother is a paranoid-schizophrenic. I'm his caregiver, but not his legal guardian. I would like to look after him until he dies, or I die. We would like to move south, maybe to the southwest. Texas is appealing.

My brother's been in an 'ACT' (assertive community treatment) program for many years. It seems like a good program.

You can go to www.nami.org and it will show you the report cards of all the states. You can click on a state and it will tell you the positives and negatives of that State's mental health services.

I used to work on an ACT team, and actually, that's what I just completed my 150 page thesis on. It can be good or bad depending on the staff and the program.
