There are two general types of depression. Emotional (your emotions or feelings are depressing) or clinical (a chemical imbalance in your brain which is making you feel depressed). You could be depressed, but I'd have to get more information to be more sure of that.
Emotional depression can be treated with therapy and in more extreme cases, antidepressants. Clinical depression can only be treated with antidepressants, but the medication can be made more effective when combined with therapy.
Talk to a doctor if you want to be tested, only they can properly diagnose you.

Livewire, it is good that you are exercising. Workouts help when you get your mind off your problems but if you pick them back up after you have only helped the physical side. Depression is when you feel worthless and useless and you find no reason for your being here. If these are your feelings you need to see a therapist. I know everyone tells you this but I have been there and I know that it helps. You can air what you think and get it off your chest. He/she will prescribe medicine that will help if you take them. Do seek help or you can write me if you do not have access to help. Good luck.

Well I guess it depends on what is going on in your life, if everything is great and you are sad then yeah that is depression. I don't like when people try to diagnose everything they say I'm depressed and I tell them no I'm just living in a shitty time right now, don't have parents, friends, and have ptsd and memory loss plus my body is falling apart from my time in iraq. Is it depression or is it life, if you are sad for nothing then you should talk to someone about that(therapist, psychiatrist) if things are going wrong you need to try to find a way to fix them. Some people just need medication so just look into that, also if you are eating poorly sometimes that can make the body feel drained and that can be confused for depression.
