Mental Health: Pilot: United States AirForce (USAF) or the Canadian Forces (CF)?

Pilot: United States AirForce (USAF) or the Canadian Forces (CF)?New to this website, Answers. Yahoo.com. So troll away If I fail / whatever : )

My Boyfriend [Really!] wants to join either the Canadian Forces (CF), or the United States Air Force (USAF), as the competitive, yet cliche, role of a pilot. You can probably guess what type of pilot he wishes to be in either country.

Anyhow, to get straight to the point:

Question A) What are the main differences, and similarities, of either 'side'? [Country].

Question B) Are there any specific thingies he needs to get? [For example, Changing his citizenship from Canadian to US, Education Differences of Canada and the USA, If he requires to be an American citizen for a period of time in order to be allowed his US pilot's license, etc].

In-depth research / Links are much appreciated!

Sincerely S/Y

[P.s. It'll be also nice if this doesn't turn into a 'flame' topic, whereas, Either country's army are not made fun of. That's just mean. After-all, we're all on the same side... I think?]

His...

GPA= 3.6 + [Last i checked, 3.6, however he's upgrading.. & yes, All University, not college]
Physical health: 19 yrs old & Very healthy... For ex. he has 6pack, can do 60+ push, yada yada. you get the pic.
Mental health: No history of 'illness' or w/e.

Also, if it helps, he's old school Eurepeon... Bold russian looking [TMI], and follows the 'old ways' of respecting his eldars. Aye, I know it's rather cliche to say, but seriously he's a strange one. He even asked my father if he was allowed to date me : /
- anywhom-

I suppose his Maturity, respects & self esteem near his supiriors is already established. On the other hand, who cares for this info? .__.
@ Bradley245,

Thanks for stating that he needs to be an... American citizen in order to be apart of the USAF. However your suggestion and tone / perspective could still use some work,

Especially when I already mentioned that no1 really cares for his appeal / Gpa/ whatever at the end of my question... It's just there for extra details, than again, I blame myself for not clearly specifying this.

Unfortunately [if you care] I will not choose your first answer for this particular question of mine, through myself being somewhat offended [@ light cusses towards bf unit, whereas I have little to know of his specified amount of pushups, or whatever, and only have his appeal to go on about], and your lack of references / experience / links / research in general.

Regardless, thank you for your response, S/Y : )

[Note: pretty sure you'd be voted in some time now for best answer, and I fore- apologize if you're a current USAF soldier. I'm simply not seeing any proof of this thus f

Answer by Bradley245
He would need to be an American citizen to join the USAF as an officer. It would not be worth it for something as uncertain as becoming a military pilot. I would recommend he try applying to the Canadian Forces.

Nobody will care if he has a six pack or looks like a bold Russian, he must still pass the medical and fitness requirements and also get through aircrew selection.

Check out www.forces.ca or talk to a recruiter.

Answer by Vettepilot
To be a USAF pilot you must be a commissioned officer. To be a commissioned officer you must be a US citizen. It is possible to enlist in the Air Force without US citizenship; however, he would not be able to become a pilot as an enlisted member.

If your boyfriend is serious about becoming a pilot then I suggest he do his own research. I find it very strange that you are asking these questions and not him. Most pilots on the US side are type A personalities and I would imagine it is the same on the Canadian side. Having his girlfriend who in turn has someone else do the research for them suggests that either he probably doesn't have what it takes or you are much more interested in it than he is.

Computer needed for clients at Townsville Queensland mental health unit for studies?

Computer needed for clients at Townsville Queensland mental health unit for studies? To whom it may concern

I am writing to your company/business on behalf of myself and my fellow friends at Townsville Hospital Mental Health Acute Unit, who are asking for a donation of a new/used computer.

Currently within the Acute Unit there is only one computer dedicated to the clients within the unit. The sole computer has no USB ports, no printer and is still running Windows 98. As you could understand this computer provides little to no use to most of the clients within the unit who frequently use it. It has been reported writing a letter to friends or family and or studying or doing assignments for TAFE and or university is very difficult to complete, as there is no printer to use and the computer runs very slowly and often stops working.

We are not looking for a top of the rang computer, we are hoping to gain a computer that can be used by all in the unit, has a printer, USB ports and is reliable. You are most likely wondering why the unit does not give us a computer, we have tried to ask for one but the unit will not provide the funds. This is why we are asking you for your help and donations.

I look forward to your reply.

What are the chances of receiving a medical waiver for mental health for the Army National Guard?

What are the chances of receiving a medical waiver for mental health for the Army National Guard?I am interested in joining the Army National Guard, and I qualify for OCS because I have a master's degree. In fact, I obtained a 4.0 GPA during my graduate program. I am also physically fit and currently meet the minimum standards for physical fitness. However, during graduate school, I sought counseling and was put on medication to stabilize my mood. I have been off medication for two years and have no subsequent problems. I'm wondering, what are my chances for receiving a medical waiver for mental health? I have been reading online that they are very difficult to obtain. When I apply for a waiver, will I have the opportunity to relay my side of this?

I am worried about my brother?

I am worried about my brother? My brother wakes up at 7:00 A.M every morning and takes a shower/eats breakfast (a lot)/ takes care of his hygiene and by 8:00 A.M, he is in his room and studying. He does not come out of his room until around 10-11 P.M. He does this everyday and one time I asked him what he was studying and he rudely told me "nothing that you would understand". I go to work/university and when I come home I still see him studying. He never comes out of his room unless it is for eating or going to the bathroom. He is always angry at me for disrupting him when he is studying. Is this a problem? He never goes out of the house. Partly because his work is actually with the computer. He works for a company and he earns nice money but I am worried about his mental health. My brother and I are the only ones in the house by the way. Should I get a therapist for him or am I overreacting?

P.S: For breakfast, he eats a lot in the morning so he very rarely has to come out and fulfill his basic needs throughout the day.

Will it be rude of me to hire a therapist without his consent? I am truly worried about him. He does have a good job that is true but he has no social life.

Answer by Robyn
Hi
Your brother seems to be unhappy, probably not with you just his situation.
Try to speak to him the morning, get something different for breakfast and start the conversation from there, ask him what his goals are, and would he like to take a break, leave some holiday booklets out, good luck.

Answer by Christine Cox
yeah that is not normal, and it will affect his social skills, and he might develop depression or paranoia if he carries on, if he makes no time for socialising he will not know how to do it when he does come out, and being alone for so long a day is never good for a persons brain.

but you can try and get a therapist to see him, but most therapies, and therapist will need the patients consent to carry on, because it won't work if he isn't open to the treatments.

but you can always try set up a consultation with a therapist and see if they can do anything, but if not i'm afraid you will just have to leave him too it.

good luck :) i hope it works out.

Answer by Opal
I think that a therapist is a little too far at the moment. Why not help him with his social life? get him out of the house somehow. Like make him go grocery shopping or help you with something.

Mental health care in America -- A Tragic story.

Mental health care in America -- A Tragic story.

It seems like every week there is a story about someone with mental illness being miss-treated, prescribed incorrect medication, treated with indifference or ignored (in some cases to death) by the very places they went to for help. There was Esmin Green who died at Brooklyn's Kings County Hospital after sitting for nearly 24 hours she collapsed from her chair and slowly died on June 19 2008. She laid on the floor at the Brooklyn hospital for an hour before a nurse finally checked her pulse. After an autopsy and weeks of tests, the medical examiner's office concluded Friday that Green was killed by pulmonary thromboemboli, blood clots that form in the legs and travel through the bloodstream to the lungs. (Ignored to death?) Then there was 50-year-old Steven Sabock A mental patient died after workers at a North Carolina hospital left him in a chair for 22 hours without feeding him or helping him use the bathroom. Surveillance video showed hospital staff watching television and playing cards just a few feet away. (Ignored to death?) And then in 2001 there was Patience Lucas she went to ECMC (Erie County Medical Center) for help and was treated with apathy and indifference to her condition. Minutes after "treatment" she was dead. We love her and miss her.

Mental Health: I'm looking for blogs?

I'm looking for blogs?I'm wanting to find blogs where people comment on them, the member list isn't incredibly small but not so big you are unknown, and debate is encouraged. I've looked for some by search engine, but I'm not finding what I'm wanting. I'm looking for blogs about: religion (including atheistic views), feminism, sociology, psychology, contraversial politics, mental health/illness, etc.Or any blog that you think is cool. I want to have thought-provoking comments that I get really opinionated on and really sick my teeth into it, where people are challenged but not destroyed. Can anyone suggest any cool blogs?

How do I get adults with mental illness in Lincoln, Nebraska, to join a local mental health chapter? ?

How do I get adults with mental illness in Lincoln, Nebraska, to join a local mental health chapter? ?I am trying to put together a proposal to present to my local mental health organization at our 6/22 7p.m. meeting for the purpose of brainstorming ways to bring in more mental health consumers and their family members and funding. The funding needs include conference expenses for representatives annually, mailing needs, event refreshments, transportation to the monthly events to those that are indigent, and other general needs. We are desparate to bring in especially the younger generations to the meetings for board involvement and general energy of the group. I am 35 and have been involved for about a decade. I am currently a full-time college student getting my B.A. in Human Relations (which includes mental health advocacy) in May 2009. I will eventually get my Masters Degree in a related field. I want the organization to give me a modest stipend/salary to be the organizer and researcher for this project of reviving the organization. Please feel free to give me any ideas.

Answer by Dee
First and foremost, the majority of mental health support chapters are NON-PROFIT. You need to solicit financial support from the community and most likely you will NOT be paid for your services. After the chapter has gained its footing and gathered enough sponsors, you may get reimbursed for expenses. I suggest posting flyers/pamphlets at local mental health clinics and hospital emergency rooms for clients.

Good luck and take care!

Mental Health: How can we make, our mental health care system better?

How can we make, our mental health care system better?Do you see any problems with our system that can be fixed? Seems to me we drug em up and ship em out. Without any great care being put on their mental state - as far as therapy is concerned. Many do not like taking the drugs because of the side effects. But lets not kid ourselves perhaps technology is not advanced enough to deal with that issue. State laws mandate that an adulut patient can not be unwillingly admitted to a mental ward, if he is not a risk to others or himself. Moods change day by day drastically especially if there not on there meds, which makes this process to limited and at times to late. Then we have the problem of many health care facilities being shut down. Consequently, the criminally insane are thrown into jail were real treatment is limitied (but drugs are plentiful). Economically, Socially, etc.... these challenges are not easy to overcome. I don`t have any idea on how we can begin to solve some of these problems. Do you?

Answer by NDNMILYFE
First get rid of the term "its just a bump in the road" "it will get better" "hang in there, it dont last forever" (reference to suicide). Most people just wannna talk...we give the wrong answers to the wrong questions....I think that we do not counsel to get to the root of the matter..we treat the symptoms not the cause..need to address the cause. Meds may work for a while but we need good counsel. Christian beliefs are very positive and should be included in baby steps like anything else (sometime)

Mentally Disabled Father misusing his Social Security / VA Benefits HELP?

Mentally Disabled Father misusing his Social Security / VA Benefits HELP?My Fathers gets close to 3,500 a month with both Social Security and VA Disability Benefits for having PTSD and Mental health issues and is broke the second week of each month.. I have asked him what is going one and he claims he has Insurance and a Christmas Club setup... My father personal hygiene is really bad he is not taking care of himself! I don't think he is taking his medication correctly and he is running around places at 2 - 3 am in the morning

I feel he is getting black mailed by younger girls because he hangs with girls 19 - 25

His bills are not getting paid and he is going without food.. Can I report this to someone ? and maybe I could be his Payee.. I love my dad to death but he can't handle his money... Any help please? Thanks

Answer by Leah
Well, if he's getting those benefits, he probably has a state social worker assigned to his case. This would be who you talk to.

Answer by JMITW
..

contact SSA and VA and ask about the procedure to become a payee under these circumstances

its one thing to be scammed which is illegal, but another to be used--it sounds like people are using him and he is knowingly giving away his money..

there's nothing wrong with being out at 2am....there is no law that says you have to sleep at night

you do not get a social worker just because you get disability

you can see if the state has ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES

Answer by Genegee
It is a shame as to what your father does with his money. Maybe he needs somebody to control the money for him.

Answer by Georgie
I agree something is not right, the money is not being spent wisely, if he is broke within a fortnight of being paid.

I think it might be a good idea to talk to either his case manager (if he has one), or someone at the VA & Social Security office, and explain the situation, making sure they know has know money within a fortnight of being paid, and bills etc are not being paid, and that he personal hygiene is not good and you don't believe he is eating enough for the last part of the month, and that you feel someone is taking advantage of him.

Hopefully they might set up some sort of payment scheme where some of his money is directly paid onto rent, utilities & insurance etc. They might also have someone from the VA office to check up on him to make sure he is getting his groceries each week or fortnight and he his bills are paid.

The other place to try is the Mental health services he receives support from (if any), at a minimum I would hope they do a assessment on his over all health & welling being, including bill paying etc. They might also set up some sort of on going supports, such as carer to come in to shower him a few times a week, do house work and make sure he has food and assist to pay bills etc.

If you were to become his payee, you will most likely have to prove you spending the money on his bills etc. Which wont be hard if you keep receipts of everything you pay and or buy for him.

Do you go with him to see the doctor or does he go by himself?
I ask this because you could ask his doctor to have his medication put into a Websters pack/ Dosette pack or Blister packs, so the medication is put into a special pack with morning, lunch, tea and evening, for the entire week. Which means you can keep an eye on whether he is taking his medication when he should be and can also help him to remember to take it.

I am in charge of my mother in-laws medication, so I know what she is on and what is for, and what time. I used to have to set out her medication, but I was so worried I might make a mistake, so I insisted she get the Webster pack, she loves it, as its set out in a way that she can tell when & where to take it. I have also got her care workers who come into shower to check her Websters to make she has taken them.

Answer by thebigz
he should have a case worker report the happenings to them - if not called adult protective services call hrs health and rehab services can some help for him now before it gets to far call va and also social security explain the situation to them If you can also talk to his doctor If you can get a letter from his doctor and ask to be put on as his payee this may help Try to do something now

Can someone please edit my essay?

Can someone please edit my essay?I am applying to enroll in the Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy program at Eisner Institute for Professional Studies. I graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. As an undergraduate student, I took psychology courses in Abnormal Psychology, Behavior Modification, and the Family. I always was interested in the complexities in psychology and the human mind. I wanted to continue to pursue a career in which I could work with people in helping them resolve his or her issues. I am aim to further my education through graduate study of psychology which will prepare me further to help my future clients to the fullest.
My professional background is in working in the mental health field for five years with clients in a variety of settings. I have worked in a residential treatment facility with adolescents that have behavioral and emotional problems, abused and neglected children that are victims of domestic violence, and outpatient setting with families in crises. My clinical experience has been both in the capacity as a counselor and case manager. I am currently working with adolescents with behavioral and emotional problems in a residential treatment facility. My role as a counselor is to provide supervision, counseling, and support to adolescents. I help the adolescents in making positive choices regarding daily living situations, personal hygiene , and conflict resolution.
I became interested in working in therapy because I experienced a family member that needed therapy for depression. My brother had been struggling with depression for a long time. My brother made the choice to seek professional help for his depression. Depression was genetic in our family, so our family as well got therapy. Through years of counseling and therapy, my brother and family benefited from therapy because we were able to heal at the same time. I understand the issues that can result firsthand from depression. I know that through therapy, people can make life long changes by looking at their lives and setting goals. I believe that each client has the capacity to make positive decision making and choices toward a more fulfilling life. I would like to be there for my future clients to help lead(guide) them to a road of personal growth and recovery or healing, self-improvement. I am fully committed and determined to advocate for clients facing issues such as family conflict, depression, and substance abuse. I believe that every client, given the proper guidance, can find their path to personal success. I am eager and dedicated to learn the techniques and approaches that are used to help families, children, and individuals resolve their issues. For this reason, I would be a good candidate for the Marriage and Family Therapy program. I realize that graduate school can be quite challenging, but I am determined to be a good student to learn about psychology that will prepare me for a career in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Through years of counseling the whole family benefited from both the therapy as well as the chance to heal together, which has brought us closer together in many ways. I have firsthand experience with depression, which adds to my ability to empathize with clients and understand the challenges they face. I believe that everyone has the capacity to make positive decisions, set goals, and make progress toward finding fulfillment and living a healthy life, both mentally and phsyically. I would like to be there for my future clients to help lead them to a road of personal growth and recovery. I am fully committed and determined to be an advocate for clients facing issues such as family conflicts, depression, and substance abuse. I believe that every client, given the proper guidance, can find their way to personal success. I am eager to learn the techniques that are used to help families, children, and individuals resolve their issues.
For these reasons, I am a good candidate for the Marriage and Family Therapy program. I realize that graduate school can be quite challenging, but I am prepared to dedicate myself completely to being successful both in my studies, and my career afterward.

Answer by Diotima
As far as content goes, I think this sounds good. The only suggestions I have are grammatical things you might want to look into.

In your first paragraph, you end with the sentences, "I wanted to continue to pursue a career in which I could work with people in helping them resolve [their] issues. I [ ] aim to further my education through graduate study of psychology[,] which will prepare me further to help my future clients to the fullest [extent]."

In the first of these sentences, I think you would use the word "their" instead of "his or her." "People" is plural, so you should probably use the plural "their" instead of the singular "his or her." Then, you said "I am aim," which is just a typo, no biggie. And there should be a comma after "psychology." I think the final sentence would sound more complete with the word "extent" at the end, but that's just personal preference. The way you have it isn't wrong, of course, but I just thought I'd put it out there to see what you think.

In the second paragraph, I think it should be "adolescents who" instead of "adolescents that" since you're talking about people instead of objects."
"I have worked in a residential treatment facility with adolescents [who] have behavioral [or?] emotional problems, [children who, as victims of domestic violence, are] abused [or] neglected, and [I have worked in an] outpatient setting with families in crises." Here I've added a few suggestions to clarify what you're saying a bit. I changed a few "and's" to "or's," but since I don't know the situation, I can only guess that the two scenarios that you paired together aren't always linked, but of course you would know that better than I would. My changes are only suggestions anyway; take them as you will. You use the word "adolescent" four times in the six sentences in your second paragraph--you might want to consider changing one or two of them to "the individual" or "the child."

I became interested in working in therapy [when?] I experienced a family member [who] needed therapy for depression. My brother had been struggling with depression for a long time[, and he] made the choice to seek professional help for his [illness]. Depression was genetic in our family, so [the rest of] our family [received therapy as well]. Through years of counseling and therapy, my brother and [other family members] benefited [ ] because we were able to heal at the same time. I understand the issues [firsthand] that can result from depression. I know that through therapy, people can make life[-]long changes by looking at their lives and setting goals. I believe that each client has the capacity to make positive decision[-]making [ ] choices [needed to live] a more fulfilling life. I would like to be there for my future clients to help lead(-->guide) them to a road of personal growth[,] recovery[,] healing, [and] self-improvement. I am fully committed and determined to advocate for clients facing issues such as family conflict, depression, and substance abuse. I believe that every client, given the proper guidance, can find [his or her (this time the word "client" is singular)] path to personal success. I am eager and dedicated to learn the techniques and approaches that are used to help families, children, and individuals resolve their issues. For this reason, I would be a good candidate for the Marriage and Family Therapy program. I realize that graduate school can be quite challenging, but I am determined to be a good student to learn about psychology[, which] will prepare me for a career in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I really like your conclusion, and I think that this is a really good piece. Like I said, the changes that I've made are just suggestions, so do with them what you will.

Good luck!

Socializing with clients?

Socializing with clients? The State of CT's Dept. of Mental Health has a policy that prohibits employees from socializing with DMHAS clients outside fo work. On the other hand, there is a movement to hire more peopel in recovery to work within the system.

I know a case where an employee was reprimanded for socializing with a client outside of work hours. The person she was visiting has been a friend for years (prior to working).

Does this policy have merit? Should the prior relationship supersede the policy?

Answer by balletdncr
Honestly I work in real estate and I would never hang out with a client outside of our transactions together. I would rather have a seperate part of my personl life for them not to know. Does that make sense.

Answer by Hurricane77
Social relationships with clients comes up as an issue for lots of professionals.

Without seeing the policy, I'd still assume that it is designed to protect the client from waiving any confidentiality or privacy privileges unknowingly. So the overall intent of the policy probably does have merit, or at least good intentions behind it.

The question is whether it is too broad in scope: are these people getting limited help,or are they patients for years?

In the case you mentioned, and for others, where a prior relationship existed before the person was a patient at DMHAS, the general rule should probably be that any individuals who are DMHAS employees should not work on cases where someone they have a pre-existing social/personal relationship with is the patient.

For all others, since you already know that socializing is prohibited, wait until after the person is no longer a patient prior to striking up a friendship.

Good luck.

Answer by female O
Socializing with clients is unprofessional on any level.

Answer by Christy
If the individual knew the client prior to working with the client, the worker should have stepped aside from the case as it was a conflict of interest. If instances arise like the one you discussed, inform your supervisor that you know the client outside of the work setting and let the supervisor make the ultimate decision.

This policy does definitely have merit. Refer to your profession's code of ethics as this type of situation is always covered in great detail by the code.

How can I get a Mental Health Advocate to help with a custody case?

How can I get a Mental Health Advocate to help with a custody case?I am 36 years old and have been diagnosed with a mental illness at the age of 31, 7 months after the birth of my youngest son. Since then, I have lost custody of my children, regain custody of my youngest son, and currently in the midst of a custody battle for my oldest son. I believed that I was railroaded by the courts. I am looking for an advocate because I feel that I am loosing my son to the streets of NYC. However, the courts feel I am unable to care for two children, because of my mental illness. I disagree. I believe that people live with their mental illness everyday and function well. I own and operate an accounting business, take care of my youngest son, and take care of myself just fine. Please help me or refer me to someone who can help. I need an mental health advocate to assist me with my custody case. It is an extreme emergency. My son has been suspended from school twice and just recently been in trouble for trying to fight the Dean. This aggressive behavi

Answer by Circe
I feel so badly for you. I know just how you feel. The courts are supposed to act in the best interest of the children, and sometimes I am certain they do, but the rest fall through the cracks while the courts turn their heads. No sweat off their gavels. I pray that you come out all the better for this experience, and your children. I can't advise you as to your question, but I can wish you the best of luck. God bless...

Answer by mjzolt
you must be doing something for the court to make a decisoin that you are not capable of raising your children. Whatever you "mental Illness" is, should have nothing to do with why your children have been taken. You need to point it out to the court that your children are unstable and will remain unstable unless they place both children in your home to live with you. Your son is looking for attention and hes gonna find it in the wrong place. You are their mother and you do what you need to do. Find a Psychaitrist that is willing to write letters on your behalf stating that you are well fit to take care of your children. Each child is a different soul and needs to be handled in different ways. Talk to your son and find out why he is so angry. Look him in the eyes and tell him you need him and he needs you, tell him that you will never leave his side and that you love him and he is the most important thing to you.
good LUCK!!!!!

Mental Health and Former Military? Are there any medical benefits that would cover a war veteran for mental health through the VA? The issues aren't war related or anything, more just life in general kind of stuff.

Thanks for any help, and have a wonderful evening.
I appreciate that you took the time to answer, but the two answers given didn't really help too much.

At this time not that I know of. If the veteran is a member of the armed services maybe, buy if he/she is a member of the reserve then the outcome is questionable.

Under Obama even military reservist will have the right to the same type of health care that all members of government receive for a lifetime.

I hope it helped.

Are there any democrats that disagree with social health care?I am a former democrat, now independent that is against social health care.

Most of my democratic friends tear me apart and call me a traitor for leaving the party and they are all for social health care.

I was wondering if there are any other democrats out there that are unhappy with this years nominees and don't want social health care?
What's the difference between universal health care and social health care?

Answer by You Sicken Me
im against it, im also independant. i would like to see the BIG companies (health insurance, BIG pharm, etc) reigned in so everything is affordable and of much better quality than it is now...it sucks now.

universal health care is where theres a law FORCING you to go to a private company or companies to get health care. if you dont, youve broken a law. social is the government provides it 'free' to all. neither are good. i stand by my previous statement

Answer by Darth Scorn
I would suspect there have to be. There are some (albeit few) conservative Democrats, I would think they'd be against it.

Answer by Pfo
I have many liberal friends, most of the smarter ones do not think that an all encompassing government sponsored health care plan is a good idea, but rather they would like to see preventative care. For example, checkups and smaller things that people might skip if they lack money, but where catching something sooner could be cheaper in the long run.

Answer by Ed J
The system that we have now is broken, it needs to be fixed. How it will be fixed is a good question. I personally have no dog in this fight. Mine is being paid for by all the American taxpayers and I am grateful for that, it really would be nice if everyones was, as mine is.

Answer by brown9488@att.net
If you insist on calling universal health care socialized, you don't belong in the Democratic party anyway.

You also are obviously a Republican not an Independent.

What should I do career/education wise???please help?

What should I do career/education wise???please help?I want a job that will make a difference. I didn't take school seriously due to personal problems so I'm not very smart plus my parents don't encourage my education, but I know I want to do something in mental health hopefully specializing in eating disorders and sexual abuse.
Should I go to TAFE and do the course IV MENTAL HEALTH which is a 2 year course (its not university) so when I finish I would get a salary of around $ 40- 45,000 a year. jobs include case worker, community worker, coordinator, mental health worker, support worker etc.
or should I go to uni and do nursing which is a 3 year course (plus I didn't get enough points to get straight in) so I'll have to do a year of associates degree in general studies)
and when finishing a salary of $ 60-$ 75,000
I'm thinking nursing :) I'm just worried I won't be able to pass exams.

nursing is easy go for it its also recession proof since its a medical job but shoot for working in a hospital.

Answer by Shelly
You could always just give uni a go for a semester and if it doesn't work out try TAFE. Don't be too stressed about finding your career path straight away, it takes time and exploration! People change their jobs all the time so you wont be stuck in on job forever. Nursing could be helpful if you work in mental health later on.

Answer by idon'tgetit!
First thing the fact that you are thinking about persuing a career makes you smart. second of all if you put your mind to it you can do anything. As long as you have the heart you can do it. have faith in yourself. That is what keeps you focused

Answer by Red
Dont let the money be a key issue, it is better to enjoy your career. But if you really want to do nursing go for it! Lecturers are usually more than willing to help you. Also you could look into doing nursing through tafe. That way you can still qualify as a nurse if you wish. Either way work hard and I am sure you will attain your goal.

Should I contact FACS?

Should I contact FACS?I'm 15 years old and wondering if I should call FACS(family and children's services). My mother is emotionally abusive and neglectful, and has been for as long as I remember. She's constantly telling me how lazy I am and how useless I am in life. She ignores my health issues, and tells me my mental health issues (Depression, OCD, Anxiety, Avoidant Personality Disorder) are fake, and she wont help me get treatment for them. She refuses to buy the simplest things for me, like painkillers and hygiene items such as deodorant, which I have to buy myself from the little money I have. She goes through my garbage to see what I do, and she doesn't cook or clean. 've done most of my own cooking since I was six. My father, who is amazing and I love very much, lives about 2000 km away. The problem is, I don't want to change highschools or take my mom to court. Will they make me fo this? Should I call FACS?
Thanks for the advice, Angela, but if my dad lives so far away, how can I avoid changing schools? He'd take me in a heartbeat, but I think moving to a whole new province where I don't have my friends would be too much for me to handle...

You should talk to your father explain to him you would like to live with him tell him the way your mom is and have him handle legal issues if he refuses then yes call children services

I'm 26 & want to marry a Canadian so I can get a hip replacement! Any Takers?I'm 26 years old, Female, American, & need a new hip but can't get any type of health care coverage here in the US.

What would I need to do to get you, Mr. or Ms. Canadian, to marry me for a couple of years so I can get the physical & mental health care that I so desperately need?

I know that you smartasses out there will say "Sex!" & you know what? I'm ok with that… LOL!

We all trade sex for the stability of home, family, & finances so what makes me so different that I would expect the side effect of being able to take advantage of Canada's National Healthcare System?

As long as I can tele/internet commute to keep running my small business then I'm ok with moving anywhere in North America.

Prenuptial Contract Required. Must speak English. Must submit to background check. Male, Female, or Poly acceptable!

Let the negotiations begin!!

Any takers?

Answer by Kraftee
A simpler solution : consider medical tourism, a term that refers to the increasingly common practice of traveling abroad to have medical treatment for far less than the cost in the US (and that includes the travel and lodging expenses for you and a companion). And hip replacements or resurfacing are among several surgeries for which Americans are traveling abroad. Here are a few links that you can consult for details:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_tourism
http://medicaltourismguide.org/
http://www.medretreat.com/

Getting married and emigrating seem like overkill when it's just a surgery that you need at a reasonable price.

Child Protective Services (or its equivalent) does what is called a home study of potential foster or adoptive parents. It's just what it sounds like - they visit you at home and interview you. Sometimes, depending on the circumstances, law guardians (court appointed attorneys whose purpose is to look out for the best interests of the child) get involved. Bottom line, If you "pass" the home study, then you can foster or adopt.
