What happens in the US if you have issues with your mental health, but yet do not have the money to hospital?I'm just curious because I'm from the UK. I have private health care plan and stuff because of the amount of money my parents have, but I always feel reassured that if I become sick and have no money there always will be a place for me in the NHS system. So that was the context of my question and these are the details relating to the question. What does the US health department do in the small selection cases in which someone is a danger to the public or themselves and yet does not have the relevant fiscal resources to fund their care, whether insured or not.

The poor and disenfranchised turn to drugs and alcohol, generally, if they don't end up in jail or dead.

depending on your age, finances, eligibility for programs and location , they would recieve some and sometimes complete treatment ,,but for the majority of cases they recieve little to none ,,

There are numerous free or low cost clinics as well as state hospitals for those who cannot afford treatment. I have used the free clinics several times. Most large cities have a charity hospital. Unfortunately, if there are no beds available some mentally ill patients can spend a day or more waiting in a section of the emergency room to get help......

75% of the homeless population are mentally ill..... in the US if you are not a threat to someone else then they just let them live off the street and eat out of trashcans.......... they can go to the emergency room for crisis care but then they are released back to the street....
