How do I go about getting a free copy of a birth certificate?I need a copy of birth certificate for three of my ladies. These ladies live in an adult foster home which is licensed through the state and count mental health office. The state or federal government is requesting that we have a copy of all clients birth certificates. These ladies are on a tight budget, so it would be beneficial to be able to get their copies for free, if possible.

Probably not possible. Records offices charge modest fees for certificates, because they need to cover their costs of operation. Check with the records offices in question to see what their charges are -- it probably will be less than $ 20 each.

They can olny be issued from the Government. They aren't free. Mine was $ 25.00.

Call your local City Clerks office, City Hall, that's what my husband just did when he needed a copy of his for a new job, they took care of it themselves and it didn't cost him anything for a copy, but in your area if they can't help you, then at least they could point you in the right direction. Hope this helps ya.
