Can a mental health counselor give a legitimate risk assessment that the LWSD would accept?

Can a mental health counselor give a legitimate risk assessment that the LWSD would accept?i recently got expelled for having 2 knifes a school and although it was totally not for a dangerous reason the school requires a risk assessment for me to get back into school. i have a friend who is a mental health counselor and he is willing to give me a risk assessment but we were wondering if there is a certification that is required specifically required for a risk assessment. i really need this so if anyone could help me out that would be awesome. thanks in advance!!!!

It is highly likely that the school district would require a state-licensed individual to provide the assessment.

If a friend has offered to do this, said friend would be doing so unethically. Regardless of whether or not he/she is licensed. If he/she is licensed, he/she would risk that license by providing it for you.

The wise move here is to contact the school district administration and ask specifically who may provide the assessment, and what requirements or certifications they must possess.

Again, if your friend opts to do this, he or she will be risking their license. It is highly unethical to provide such an assessment for a friend or family member.

Good luck with your decision,
