Looking for facts on JFK closing mental health institutes?On Monday, 10-26-09, during "All Things Considered" on NPR, I heard someone say that due to increased effectiveness of anti psychotic drugs in the 1960's, JFK started closing down insane asylums, mental health hospitals, etc. I searched google and wikipedia and looked all over NPR's site but can't find any mention of JFK doing this. Did JFK really start this process?

I am not an expert, but honestly I can hardly believe it, knowing that his sister was actually known for helping mentally impaired people and worked to open more hospitals for them.
