I have been on 99% of the antidepressant meds out there over my lifetime (Paxil, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Lexapro, and many, many more), and in each case I would experience the same problem..I'll take the meds for about a couple of weeks, feel better (not even happy, just a bit more "level") and then I'll crash big time, to the point where I get so depressed I barely want to get out of bed. Once I go off whatever med I'm taking, I go back to the level I was before taking the med.
My primary care Dr. and mental health Dr's are completely stumped. They're trying to get me in with a psychiatric specialist, but we're encountering a lot of red tape with my insurance company, and even then I'll have to wait several months, with no medication.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this and what I can do about it?

Sounds like you need to get to a psychiatrist who specializes in mood disorders for a second (or millionth!) opinion. If your depression is actually bipolar vs. unipolar, antidepressants would make you worse.
GOOD LUCK!

Yes. It's called obesity and low self esteem. Some people, I won't mention any names, need to take more responsibility for their depression and problems. Especially an overweight mother!! - join sparkpeople.com to learn better ways to help you with your fitness and weight problems. Increase your Vitamin B-12 to help with the depression.
Last resort, to help with weight loss, and potentially provide you with a medication that would work - ask for a stimulant. An ADD/ADHD medication - Adderall or Ritalin, though I prefer Adderall would help motivate you and get you moving. It is extremely strong though, and only occassionally prescribed to help with obesity. If you have not done Effexor (which you should have by now), do it.
good luck and take care (and responsibility)

It has been said that antidepressants can make people feel even more down...
If your not happy with the results you are getting from your doctor just go to another one...
There are a lot of medicines out their im sure one of them will work for you...
you just have to find out which ones work for you...
Good luck and God bless
