If they are checking your background it would show if you have been convicted of stealing and it may even include a driving record check (depending on the job). However, I'm can't see how it would show visits to mental health offices. That is confidential.

I've been caught stealing from a store before. Luckily, the security guard was nice enough to not have us arrested and answered all questions we had. He said that the theft part would only be sent to stores under the company. [In our case, it was Sears, & K-Mart was under its company] If we had been arrested for it, it would've gone on our criminal record & be on a background check. It mostly depends on the extent of your crime & if you were convicted. Also, health records would never be on a background check. When you enter any sort of health facility that treats you, you also sign a privacy agreement that states your rights.
