I need help getting mental help?

I need help getting mental help?I have medicare. I need to see a professional about depression and anxiety, how would I go about doing this? Would I need to see a general practitioner to refer me to a specialist, if so how do I go about getting the first doctor? I have no idea how to use my insurance. So starting from nothing how would I go about finding who to see that will accept my insurance. There is a community mental health center near by but I know someone who works there so I cannot go their, I called the next closest one after building up the nerve to do that and they told me they would not be able to help me for 6 months. I need help.
I think I need to be taking something for these, so what do I need to do to see someone who can get me medicine

Why not find a general practitioner they will forward you onto the help you are needing ,they should also be able to explain how to use your insurance no harm in asking.

You can find the phone number for NAMI that is the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. They are there for any reason that you need and can help you with referrals and how you need to use your insurance. You can also go to their site nami.org and find your local chapter there is one in every city and town. I don't know if you would need a referral but it is the specialist that you want to see and that is a psychiatrist. You have no reason to be ashamed or embarrased about depression or anxiety I wouldn't let knowing someone in a local clinic stop me from going there. Your mental health is most important and there is help. I wish you luck and recovery!
