If it's THAT easy to simply "exercise" to improve your mental health, why do we still have to take pills?

If it's THAT easy to simply "exercise" to improve your mental health, why do we still have to take pills?I've been taking prescribed "pills" all my life, & they never help. I told the mental health nurse yesterday that I'm more depressed than usual, & another nurse told her to tell me that I have to exercise to improve my mood. Maybe that might be the reason why I'm more sluggish & depressed than I was when I was younger, taking PE.

it does help to exercise, it actually has an antidepressant effect, however, if you trully have clinical depression you will like have to take antidepressant indefinitely, but in combination, it trully helps, cycling, and aerobic activities, i'm just partial to cycling, lifting weights also, but do the ones you are willing to do and like,

Exercise has been shown to help depression. This is well documented and many ppl can tell you as much. It is enough for many. It's not enough for some. I can't say whether you need medication, but I can tell you that for some that although it seems that medication is not doing anything, without it, the disorder would be worse.

Combining meds (when needed) with therapy, exercise, good nutritian, adequate sunlight or light box, and Omega3 fish oil (if it works for you) is a very proactive approach towards managing depression.
