Can my state of mental health make me go to the hospital ?

Can my state of mental health make me go to the hospital ?What I mean is that the state I live in has a department of mental health. And now a relative of mine keeps telling me that if I don't stop pacing they can put me into a group home. My worker had got me into a program for youth then that closed down. Then I agreed to go to two group homes and that didn't work so I can back home. And now this relative keeps telling me that my state's mental health department can make me go back to another group home when I volunteered in the first place. There was another person there that got in trouble with the law and I think he has to be there but I volunteered to go there.

So the question is can my state's mental health department make me go to another group home? if I don't stop my pacing (walking around a lot)

They can only force you to go to a mental health facility if your behavior is dangerous or threatening to yourself or others. Pacing around is not serious enough for that.

It depends on your state law. In my state (California), an adult can only be forced to go to the hospital if they are an immediate danger to themselves or others (e.g., suicidal). Pacing would not be considered dangerous. Even for someone who is suicidal, all that happens is they are put on 72 hour suicide watch, and if they calm down they can be released early - no treatment is forced on anyone.
