Mental Health: I have an anxiety disorder does that mean they will put me in a mental health unit?

I have an anxiety disorder does that mean they will put me in a mental health unit?im so scared! i hate hospitals i really do do they put people away if they have panic or anxiety

Answer by thewildeman2
The short answer here is NO. They don't just slap people into hospitals for panic attacks any more. If they think you are a danger to yourself or others you might find yourself hospitalized, but I think, if you see your dr, you will find that anxiety is a treatable condition without hospitalization. Best of luck and hang in there!

NO, they will not send you to a mental hospital for a simple anxiety disorder. Depending on how old you are, you will probably be able to solve that problem with a mixture of therapy and medication. As for the hospital fear, there is nothing to hate. Remember that this is where people are there specifically to help you. I realize that some people have a great fear of needles and surgery, but in the end, all they are trying to do is get you better.

No, due to changes in insurance and Medicaid coverage, as well as civil law, a person must be found a danger to him or herself in order to be placed in a inpatient, psychiatric facility/hospital.
