Sometimes. I give them a benefit of a doubt but its hard to say because they do have hormones which makes them emotional. Also, since they are young, they probably experience many firsts, especially first break ups, and let downs, and they have no idea how to deal with the heartache.
I've seen alot of "This girl in school doesn't love me back, I want to die" questions. Honestly, rarely do HS romances work out, because there's so much they haven't experienced before, like getting careers, or living together. They don't know each others bad habits, and haven't learned how to support themselves yet. Every time, I answer that people from high school are probably not going to follow you to college. Everybody has their own destinies to make.

Yes and most of us understand that, teenagers are very emotional (mainly due to hormones). But still, children and teenagers can develop mental illness and every person with a mental illness should be regarded as serious because mental illness can take your life.
I myself have two anxiety disorders, and I am currently being evaluated for a dissociative disorder and a depression-spectrum disorder in the manic depression field. I have struggled with borderline to mild anorexia, self-injury, a variety of types of parental abuse, suicidal behavior, and I have even attempted to take my own life. But you know, nothing serious....

Yes, I am very depressed and I had one suicidal thought today, but I'm not going to kill myself. Two nights ago I felt so depressed that I picked up a pencil and wrote a full page of why I am depressed & the negative thoughts that make me depressed. Not sure if I'm going to tell my parents, but maybe I will who knows.

I used to think that people with mental health disorders were not taken seriously.. That is, until I was diagnosed with Major depression, Anxiety, OCD and Borderline Personality Disorder. I went from having no doctors in my life, to being followed by numerous doctors, psychiatric nurses, counselors, even the police officers would drop by to see how I was doing... since they were called here after I attempted suicide a couple times.
It is taken very seriously. I think the worst part out there, is the stigma that is related to mental illnesses. Mental health problems are very very serious and should always be taken seriously. Better to be safe than sorry
