What's your opinion and what do you know about being detained under mental health act?I've heard that in the UK (where I live) you can be arrested for attempted suicide. How does that work and why do they do it- surely it would make things worse? Do you think it's a good idea? If they are determined, being arrested won't stop them from doing it properly next time. Also, does it go on your criminal record/ medical record at all?!! Thanks.

If someone ends up in hospital, or the police respond, they can recommend an evaluation.
Arrested is a little harsh for being taken to the psych ward. Yes, I think sending someone for psych eval is good - jail bad..
