Mental Health: Exercise is good for your mental health, right? So why is it that I start to cry when I run?

Exercise is good for your mental health, right? So why is it that I start to cry when I run?I thought it was supposed to make you feel better. Right now I am dealing with depression, and I've been running long before I started feeling depressed. So now when I do my daily run of 3 miles I feel like crying or I even do cry sometimes.

Could it be because I run at night, when it's darker? Why do I feel so sad?

I also am going through depression, and I'll bike usually or sometimes walk and I don't always feel really good when I'm doing it either. But at least it does give you some time to yourself and to think and is also good for your body.
Also, yes I think if I exercised at night I would also not feel as good, as well as a bit scared since it is darker and I get paranoid if I see any strange dude or hear something. Not sure if you have any time to run during the day, but maybe on days you have off or other free time you have you can try doing it more during daytime.
