I'm 18 and i have a grandmother that is living alone. Her name is Sharon. I remember when I was around her when younger she always was a nice outgoing person. Until my fathers death(5 years ago ..Lately have began to unstable.REcent example march 2010 she called me the conversation started off fine then she broke out into a rage saying that she would kill me.I knew something wasn'tht so and she wasn't there. From there i went to the local gas station on the next street and saw her wearing an all white church appearl( .Then I walked up to her she just looked at me and walked off. With the keys in her car swithch with the motor running i tried to convince her to get in the car but she s i went over she locked me in , and started talking about the bible.and continued to speak about my dad. She started to get kinda aggressive she didnt attemp to hurt. But i kallcalled police department and they took her to the mental clinic, She got out a couple week later.She was happier than she has been since my dads deaths. Dec 3 2010.the second time she didndidn'te pick me up for school I walked to her house its unlike her to not call me if she cant make it. and she wasnwasn'tre and i callcalled police to find her.only to find out the have already got her for an disturbance .They took her to another mental facility I talked to her a day or two after she didnt even know what day it was .She got out by the end of the week and she was alright not as happy as the first time . But she said she was not going to take her medicne . Now today of I went to visit and she is often speaking of the past as far as 20 years ago.I noticed alot bad lapse of judgement she was running stop signs hitting curbs and making wide turns until we finally arrived home.Then she took me to church with her knowing today is saturday and its christmas when we arruved to an empty parking it was starring all over again thankfully a family member convinced her to go home.I'm currently at home wit my mom. As of i know she is at home Long story short she is disorented, Depressed ,and cant sleep ,I dont know how to react when she goes in to this extreme .She is 63 .and not taking her perscribed medicine. What should I do?

Your 18 and taking care of grandma. Why isn't her children taking care of her. She sounds like she does best in a hospital or nursing home environment. She sounds like she is a danger to herself and others and needs to be in a hospital. You are very kind to care so much about her.
