If you expect it to be an amusement park, I think you'll be disappointed
Whether you want to get better will be up to you! You'll get out of it, what you put into it!
Just a question, when you write an essay or express yourself, do you talk in the same style as you wrote your question? The reason I ask, is because how you express yourself is an indication of what's going on "inside", it's a reflection of your issue(s) you need to work on!

Do realize that mental health centers are each run differently, they are different sizes and have different services available, depending on their workers' qualifications and specialties.
I lived in a small community that had only two counselors, and those counselors were limited to basic services.
I lived in a city with large mental health centers. Services covered many more problems and more serious cases, they also have some short term residential facilities to help people who are in crisis.
Where ever you live, most of the services will be given in the office with weekly appointments, and sometimes also group sessions with others your age or who have similar problems. Most Counseling therapy sessions will be with just you and the counselor, sessions usually last 50 minutes. You will be given emergency numbers to call if you go into crisis at home between sessions. You will talk about your past, your problems, and your feeling, and your family and friends. During the therapy you will learn what it is that caused you to do these unhealthy things. You will learn to respond differently when you get strong feelings in the future. Some call it counseling, some call it therapy.
Usually, the person getting help is not kept overnight if they are not a danger to self or others.
