Mental Health: What are ways to improve mental health?

What are ways to improve mental health?I have a health project due soon and I need to be able to list 25 ways to improve your mental health. They need to be creative and original! Please help me out

1- Focus on positive things and not the negatives in your life
2- Seek counseling from a therapist
3- Spend time with family and loved ones
4- Try new activities - something you have not done and always wanted to.
5- Volunteering (I love animals so the Humane Society is good one for me)
6- Take your medication as prescribed
7- Get plenty of rest - You will feel better in the morning after a good night of sleep
8- Have your "own" time for reading, watching a movie, shopping, or taking a long bath
9- If you have a lot of things you need to accomplish, make a list and tackle the smaller first.
10- Clean your house - I always feel better about my house and myself.

11. Eat a well balanced diet that includes plenty of green leafy vegetables.

12. Omega 3 found in oily fish. Omega 3 repairs the transmittors in the brain as well as being good for the heart.

13. Plenty of exercise such as swimming and walking.

14. Read and relax. Good book to read is Nutrition and Mental Health Ilnness. (by Carl C.Pfieffer, Ph.D.,M.D.)

15. Seek the company of like minded people. There are many groups set up now that run resource centres for those who are out and about in the community.

16. Stay off the alcohol and ensure that the prescribed medication ifs right for you.

Good luck with your project. And it's good to know that someone is interested in this subject as 1 in 4 of the population will be effected by Mental Health problems sometime throughout their lives.

The University of Durham hold seminars on mental health issues on a regular basis.

17. Go outside for a walk every day. Relax and observe things, like animals, playing kids, trees, sunshine. Spend time in nature and enjoy it. Play some sport.
18. Drink plenty of water.
19. Breath deeply.
20. Socialize, date more often, meet friends.
21. Listen to your favorite music.
22. Help people, take any chance to do something nice to someone.
23. Trust and obey God. Develop your spirituality and inner strength.
24. Forgive yourself and others. Move on.
25. Be grateful for the things that you have and try to live in the present moment.
