Background Story:
I had a 3 yr old Diamond python that would fall out of his plastic tree in his terrarium numerous times a day. He was happy and healthy, he was fed twice a week with no problems, his sheddings came off nicely. I think the only thing that ever worried me was his yawning. But I had that checked and apparently he was just lazy
He's been falling out off trees and off of things since the day I got him. He was a hatchling and my first ever snake, so I thought nothing of it. I'd done my research and nothing ever said anything about snakes falling off of things on health problems and facts sheets, so I thought it was normal. Then I purchased a Coastal Carpet python, the same age as him and put her in the terrarium. It was never a problem, and both seemed perfectly healthy. It wasn't for a while after I got her that I realized that I had never once seen Shnaps fall out of the tree. Not once. And Monty did it on a day to day basis. But, again, I brushed it off - he'd always done it. It was like his "thing" or something
You have no idea how much I regret it
Sunday morning I came down to check them, about 7, like I always do. Monty and Shnaps were both up the tree, looking as they normally do; fat and happy. I wondered off, had a shower, had breakfast, mum went out with my brother about 10. 15 minutes after that I decided I was going to get Monty out and watch a movie. You can't imagine my complete shock and horror when I found my favorite pet lying on the floor of his terrarium, with his head sort of stuck under his own coils and a mouth full of himself, completely motionless
I walked away, took a couple of deep breaths, decided he was just having a "Monty" moment (he's eaten over half of himself before and had to be rushed to the vet) and that their water need re-filling. So I got a glass of water and re-filled their water rock thingy, purposely splashing Monty in the process. Normally I get a pretty savage reaction when I splash him; striking, hissing the whole bit. This time I got nothing. He was dead. He'd fallen from his tree and broken his neck on the way down
Monty and Shnaps have been living together in the same enclosure for over 2 yrs, and were both happy besides the falling from trees
And that video is stupid, don't bether looking at it

it may have been the introduction of the other snake. if you recently got a new snake, and added them in with your first, then he may have been stressed out. the best way to introduce a new snake is to keep them near each other in separate compartments so that they can see each other but not contact.

Some pythons do have neurological problems unfortunately, but I thought this was due to the Jag gene with carpets, was he part jaguar or pure diamond? It's a shame you thought this was normal, as it would have helped him to not have things to climb up onto and fall off. Introducing your new snake may have added a bit more stress tbh, but I doubt it would have been enough to affect him that much.
