Does you know how long it takes to receive a death certificate from the Department of Health & Mental hygiene?I recently ordered death certificates on some of my great-grandparents from the Department of Health and Mental hygiene in New York City. How long will this take? Will it take as long as it would to receive your birth certificate in the mail? I think that's like 6-8 weeks. Or will it come earlier?

6 to 8 weeks is about normal.
If you paid by personal check, they will wait until the check clears before beginning the search and processing your order.
If you paid by credit card or money order, your request will move a bit faster.
