What is the purpose of military behavioral health?

What is the purpose of military behavioral health? One of my friends in my unit is about to go see a mental health professional at behavioral health for "abnormal stress reactions". The guy gets stressed out somewhat easily and it has sometimes had an effect on his job performance. However, he does try hard and can usually get the job done. However, his stress management issues have led the CO to send him to mental health. He is worried that he might get discharged or barred from deployment. What are the chances of this happpening?

Theres not much to say, if it is a very bad case he won't e deployed. I don't think he would be discharged.

He might not be deployable for now, but the point of behavioral health is to treat mental illnesses. Mental health problems are becoming more accepted as the illnesses they are, rather than something that can't be cured.
