Dr. Jan Mohlman - Aging and mental health

Dr. Jan Mohlman of the Rutgers University Department of Psychology describes her research regarding aging and mental health. Dr. Mohlman's research focuses on the etiology, course, and treatment of anxiety disorders, anxiety in older adults, mechanisms of cognitive behavior therapy, and the relation of executive functioning and anxiety. Current studies running in her lab investigate the impact of normal age-related changes to the brain and cognitive skills on response to cognitive behavioral treatment, and how we might improve upon current intervention strategies for late life anxiety. Her lab also studies the effects of anxiety on cognitive skills in younger and older adults using a variety of laboratory tasks (eg, Stroop, dot probe). Her lab utilizes a neurocognitive approach in researching these topics, with the overarching goal of bridging applied and basic science to advance our understanding of the nature and treatment of anxiety.
