Mental Health: Can Canadian citizens be reimbursed for health care in the U.S.?

Can Canadian citizens be reimbursed for health care in the U.S.?I have a friend who has a family member who is a Canadian citizen that is in the U.S. and recently needed health care in the U.S. She is covered by the national insurance program of Canada. Is it possible for her to get reimbursed for health care in the U.S.? Does this also apply for mental health?

I'm not 100% sure...but I wouldn't see why they wouldn't reimburse her for it. I work in a pharmacy and there are a lot of times that people come in and they are from out of state and we don't accept their insurance. They pay cash for it and then submit that claim to their insurance company and they do get reimbursed for it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Not sure, but I do know Canadian students in the U.S. that have had to go back to Canda for care in order to get it paid for.
