Can you admit yourself to a mental health unit?

Can you admit yourself to a mental health unit?Or somewhere similar? If yes, how?

Answer by Vansig
yes, it's easy. the hard part is getting them to let you out.

Answer by Irv S
Yes. Present yourself and ask to be admitted voluntarily.
If an evaluation determines that you might be a danger to
yourself or others you can be admitted on an emergency basis.

Yes, go to your local hospital , most have them do and mental evaluation and they can admit you. you would have to call your local hospital to find out how as different hospitals policies may vary

Hi,I did the following:

Health Minister Edwina Hart opens new Angelton Clinic in Bridgend

Angelton Clinic, the new 42 bed mental health unit in Glanrhyd hospital, Bridgend, South Wales, was officially opened on 10th January, 2011, by Health Minister Edwina Hart AM. The unit will be home to older people suffering with dementia, who are currently based on the Oxwich and Oldcastle wards (Wards 2 and 15), Glanrhyd Hospital and Morlais Ward, The Croeso Centre. Mrs Hart said: "I am delighted with the hard work which has gone into the facility and it will be wonderful when it is live, working for the benefit of the individual. I am very committed to mental health issues, and have always had an interest in them." Patients have now begun to move into their new private, en-suite bedrooms. To make it easier for some of the more confused patients, modern initiatives have been used when designing the new unit. For example, rooms have been colour coded to make them easier to recognise for the patients: blue (toilets/bathrooms), green (bedrooms) or yellow (day space). Pictorial signs will be displayed on the doors, with the relevant colour incorporated. For more details, please see: www.wales.nhs.uk
