Mental health - crisis team - help!?

Mental health - crisis team - help!?My girlfriend was just taken to the hospital by a "crisis team" for mental health reasons.

She's been through this a few times before, but I'm new to this.

How long will she be in the hospital? She texted me telling me that they were taking her and said that she was safe, but I have no way to get in touch with her now, or to find out where she is or if she's going to be ok.

I'm not family, so even if I knew the hospital, they wouldn't be able to tell me anything anyway. She said she'd have her mom call me, but I've been freaking out for the last couple hours since I found out.

If anyone can give me any guidance on this, I'd seriously appreciate it! I don't even know what a crisis team is!

At first, even the family is really not allowed to visit or at least the hospital prefers it that way. Once she is evaluated and put on meds and is a little stable, then the family will visit and hopefully they will then call you. Leave them a message on their phone to let them know how concerned you are. The hospital can legally keep her for up to 72 hours. Then after that, I believe a doctor has to ask a judge to keep her longer. So, bottom line is try to be patient and maybe say a prayer too.

As soon as i read this i knew i HAD to answer.. simple reason is you seem clueless and well i've been there before. Firstly a crisis team is a team who is made up of doctors and nurses etc, who will come to your home or you can go and meet them and by seeying them it's meant to prevent hospital admissions, from my experience they came to my house gave me an evaluation then decided the best course of action would be for me to go into hospital.

Your girlfriend will be fine you've got nothing to worry about, she will speak to the doctors and nurses at the hospital and they will help her. When i was there i was aloud my phone and there was a patient phone we could use and anybody could come visit me (family or not). It's a good idea to check out the place first, maybe give them a ring ask what visiting times are and what you can bring etc..

Also the lengh of the stay is entirely up to how she reacts to treatment etc..

Good luck :)!
