National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day PSA 2009
As a part of Caring for Every Child's Mental Health, learn how taking care of mental health is just as important as taking care of dental health. "Caring for Every Child's Mental Health" and its key strategy, National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day, are a part of the Public Awareness and Support Strategic Initiative by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), US Department of Health & Human Services. The effort seeks to promote positive youth development, resilience, recovery, and the transformation of mental health services delivery for children and youth with serious mental health needs and their families. In 2009, Awareness Day focused on how high school youth who receive the services they need are more likely to have positive outcomes, such as better grades, and less likely to have negative outcomes, such as involvement with the juvenile and criminal justice systems.
