How can I become a health care provider for blue cross blue shield in north carolina?I am a licensed clinical social worker and need a packet to apply for membership in the BC/BS provider network for mental health and substance abuse services.

BCBS of NC is contracted with Magellan to manage the behavioral health services for the majority of their membership. You should probably start by checking out the Magellan website at www.magellanhealth.com and requesting a credentialing packet. The services are actually provided out of Atlanta, so you can also call them at 678-319-3700 and ask to be connected to provider relations. If you want to contact BCBS NC directly to see if they contract social workers outside of Magellan, you can check out their website at www.bcsbnc.com or call their provider relations department at 800 - 250-3630. That should get you through to their customer service department who will be able to connect you to provider relations.
