Are Health Care Foes Aware That Affordable/Accessable Health Care Might Have Prevented the Tucson Tragedy?

Are Health Care Foes Aware That Affordable/Accessable Health Care Might Have Prevented the Tucson Tragedy?Amidst all the blathering by Tea-Bag Republicans About how wrong it is to have affordable accessable Health Care and the blathering about Jared Lee Loughner's 'reasons' motivations etc, Does Anyone see the Disconect? Had there been a Health care System in place that encourages People to seek health, or one that allows a Community College to 'quietly' send someone such as Jared Lee to a Mental Health Care Specialist, perhaps such a tragedy could have been avoided? Now I am aware that no one could have forced Jared Lee to go, but just think, if the process was easier, if the health care system actually encouraged people to go see both health care and mental health care professionals instead of layers of red tape and financial restrictions etc keeping people from seeking help? Now I know the knee jerk reaction is to say, "Heck No, Health Care Is a Right, Not A Privillege, it should be restricted to those who can afford it," but hold back from that reaction and think, once again, what if it was as easy to see a Mental health Specialist as it was to buy a gun? Again, think, there is less 'guilt,' less 'stigma' attached to buying an assault rifle or a hand gun with a mega clip than there is to seeing a Mental health Specialist? Most health care Plans don't allow for Mental health visits, listing them as frivolous, in fact I am certain the majority of Tea-bag Republicans would agree that 'Mental; Health Care' is ridculous & unneeded, but maybe just maybe it is time to change this attutude? Again, think, how often are people criticized, listed as 'nut jobs,' labled 'sick' for seeking out Mental health Care, yet in a State such as Arizona people are encouraged to buy guns and no one thinks it is weird to have a massive arsenal on hand or, as long as they have a permit, encouraged to carry them inside their work place, public forums, markets resteraunts, etc?
Once again, why is seeking Mental Health Care considered Sick, yet Buying a Gun is the American Thing To Do?

That's very possible. At the end of the day, as things are, the private system just isn't as accessible as it could be. There are too many people with undiagnosed mental issues. Loughner may very well have had early or mild schizophrenia.

Sorry JVH, but as one who's lived in Europe for virtually his entire adult life I can tell you categorically, your assumptions are incorrect. There is no National Health scheme in any European country which "encourages" people to see health care professionals. Indeed, quite the opposite, National Health rations health care, often in a far more draconian manner than one might think is the case in the USA. These systems do not make it easy to get into a hospital or see a doctor, which is why more and more people over here are opting out of the system and seeking private health insurance. As generalizations go, the national health schemes over here work about as well as the public schools in America -- which is to say, they don't.

Security begins at home, in people's private lives.
That's why Americans think they hate welfare states-
secure people being safe is so pro-human, they CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!
