Finding a Christian Counselor Who Takes Insurance...HARD!?I have been suffering with various mental health problems including anxiety and depression for over 20 years now. Traditional mainstream therapists have been little help to me, and I now want to try Christian counselor, psychologists, and therapists, only...for I believe my problems may be spiritual in nature, as none of the drugs are working and the therapy I have received has had limited value for me. I really want to get hooked up with a good Christian therapist. However, I have run into a recurring big problem...they ALL want cash, and lots of it. In my experience, the typical Christian Counselor charges $ 75-90 an hour, and I have yet to find one that will take any of my insurances, which are Medicare, both parts, and Medicaid. You see I am disabled from these conditions, and thus on a very limited income, and can only afford a very small co-pay, or ideally have my therapy paid in full by my insurances. It is a VERY frustrating problem! I don't know where to turn. I would think there MUST be some Christian counselors out there who would take a smaller fee, based on your income, or some that take insurances. I live in upstate New York, about 90 miles south of Buffalo/Rochester, and cannot find any in my area, and believe me, I have tried. I so want to try this avenue of therapy, because I really think it will help me, as opposed to the traditional therapy I have been exposed to. That therapy is fairly easy to get covered by insurance, but I just don't want to go that route anymore. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on what I might do to find Christian therapists or counselors in my region that might be of help to me. Is there a website maybe that lists them, maybe by state or region or gives information about them? If so, I haven't found it yet. Sure, I could go to my Pastor, and I have, but he really admits not to knowing much about the conditions from which I suffer from. He can only give me 'general' advice. I need the help of a competent Christian counselor...someone who has been trained and is familiar with mental health conditions and the Word of God, and able to combine the two into effective therapy. I am beginning to lose hope. I simply cannot afford the fees they are charging. I am sure they are well worth it. It is just my financial situation simply will not allow for it. Thanks for any help you may provide.
